I started learning about digital marketing in 2017, especially focusing on writing. I found helpful blogs about blogging and digital marketing by Shoutmeloud, Harsh Agarwal, and Deepak Kanagaraju (also known as Digital Deepak). I read their blogs regularly, along with a couple by Sourav Jain and others. I tried to get digital marketing jobs, but I didn’t get hired anywhere. But, I was good at writing in Tamil. One of my teachers recommended me to a Tamil newspaper company, where I began my freelance writing journey for their weekend newsletter called “Unga Town.” However, my dream was always to write in English.
I started working as a “Technical Support Engineer” at CSS Corp. One important thing I had to do was write down what customers said during phone calls. At first, I helped customers through online chats. They would tell us if they were happy with our help, and I got the most points for making them happy. This made me really interested in writing.
I also began writing for an overseas education consultancy, where I write about various courses offered by universities.
In 2019, I joined Photon, a SaaS company, as a Business Development Executive. It was an intense experience. My daily tasks involved lead generation, cold calling, and cold emailing to 150 stakeholders. Additionally, I handled data scraping, follow-ups, transcriptions, and connected with the right stakeholders on LinkedIn. Through personalized emails, I secured a call with the digital director of McKinsey & Company. My passion for writing remained strong.
In 2021, I joined as a Digital Business Consultant at Stan Ventures, an advertising company where the company provides SEO as a service.
I started learning about SEO. I need to explain our services over the phone to agency owners in other countries and send emails. My interest for organic marketing piqued my interest to explore more opportunities in digital marketing.
In 2023, I began working as a Personal Branding Executive at “The Social Company”. I gained extensive knowledge about LinkedIn and managed the profiles of industry experts, founders, and professionals from various sectors. My responsibilities included ghostwriting for CEOs, founders, and directors in their respective fields. Additionally, I handled content strategy, client onboarding, discovery calls, briefings, call transcriptions, and follow-ups for content approvals. Through this experience, I significantly grew LinkedIn profiles by three times. As a result, I built my own LinkedIn following from 0 to over 3,000 followers.
